How to build your own drone

Drones are raising the bar for filmmakers around the world. Matador has been producing aerial videos for some time now, including the award-winning Jordan from the Air. Consumer drones can range in price from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars. Like many things, you get what you pay for. If you’re handy and motivated, you can also build your own.

MatadorU student Anna Maria Halkiotis interviewed a friend of hers — an expert at making drones from scratch — and pulled some tips out of him for aspiring drone builders. If you want to build your own drone it’s a big plus to have some basic electronics knowledge and soldering skills. Happy flying!
