Forums Writing Chapter 6 Travel writing as a generalist

Travel writing as a generalist

There are only so many venues for travel writers to sell their writing to. As a result, there’s something to be said about being flexible and writing a variety of story types for a wide variety of publications. In my assignment 6, I’ve tried to identify some of the sub-genres of travel writing and suggest at least one (or a couple of publications) that a writing generalist could target.

Hey Mike, it certainly does pay to be a flexible writer, but never under-estimate the benefits of being niche oriented! It’s how I get a LOT of jobs as a Newfoundland writer.

This is a great round-up, by the way. I bet you’d ace “Up Here.”

Does Matador still offer travel writing courses?  I can’t find them on their website and their help desk is no longer supported… any help or info would be greatly appreciated!
